None of the browsers (5 of them) work with the share button and the other upload button just goes blank after it is clicked. Can the old button code be put back; I cannot do any uploads from my apartment.

http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Check out that link Gerry, that appears to be running the IA SHARE button on my PC

try right clicking on the SHARE button, it told me the version of Adobe Flash I was using, you either need to update to the latest version to be compatible with a IA updated SHARE button, or revert to an older version if IA has not updated itself but you have.

And I have had broken flash for a while, been using a work around, so Gerry, have you the ability to use a USB pen drive? (I am no longer doing that, it was an emergency workaround at the time, and by coincidence I was an hour ago on the phone to our local mapping people where I had that problem fixed months ago, they agreed to email me some stuff thats not available normally) That is one of the 2 ideas I had in my last posting, the pen drive way is easier.

I left email ticked to this, so I will know as soon as you reply to THIS posting, tomorrow I will investigate further, its about time I fixed Flash and stopped using work arounds.

look after yourself,

Peter

Gerry

Just in case you did not think of it, that new share button, the one on the pop up is a dummy, try the one it points too, that has always worked for after I told you about it, while the one on the pop up does nothing for me.

Peter

the following is the info re that share button

How does the Share button work?

This exciting new uploading feature is a beta release. This means that it's currently under development, and we've made this early release because it improves the upload process and we can't wait for you to start working with it!

To use the new beta uploader:

* First click the "Upload" button near the upper right-hand corner of the site, or click here.
* Now you can see the Share button.
* Click the Share button to browse for the media you want to upload. You can select more than one file, or you can click the Share button again to select additional files.
* Archive.org will automatically detect which media collection (movies, audio, texts, or other) your item belongs to, according to the type of the first uploaded file.
* You also have the option to click the link to change the file type if needed.
* As the file(s) upload, enter the information about your file in the given fields.
* When everything is complete, click the "Share my File(s)" button at the bottom of the page to create your item page on Archive.org.

I hate the new beta uploader. The old uploader worked fine. Tried several times to upload audio files on the new beta without success. My system is linux, because i'm using linux festival text-to-speech.

I've had success with ftp via filezilla in the past. with the new upload address I loaded the podcast to the root. Had problems but eventually got them all uploaded, but search cannot find them.

Why not leave the old uploader as an alternative? I've never had a problem with the old one.

BYW, most of my uploads are under 8MB.

That's always an issue with browser updates, many of my share plugins on my browser are no longer working since I updated. Really annoying.
